Maggie Nyland,
Founder, Artistic Director
Native to Milwaukee's East Side, Maggie's decision to form a performance company
right here in the dairy state seemed a natural progression.
A need for music, movement and movement invention has been a constant force, taking her from teaching a class of Japanese figure skaters in a rink tucked away in (much snowier than Wisconsin) Hokkaido, Japan, to dancing and performing with Deb Loewen's critically acclaimed Wild Space Dance Company here in Milwaukee.
Maggie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1992, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with highest honors in 1999, both from the University of WisconsinMilwaukee.
COMPANY MEMBERS
Dehnel Kluzak Petre,
Senior Company Member
Dehnel has been skating for 18 years and competed nationally and internationally
with the Wagon Wheel Starlets synchronized skating team. She has her Gold
moves, Silver dance, and Silver freestyle tests, and is preparing to test
her Senior freestyle test. When not coaching or skating, she enjoys writing
fiction and reading. Dehnel is 24 years old and is recently married. Passages
from her writing will be featured in our next full-length performance.
Angela Johnstad
Angela laced up her first pair of skates at age 11; two cities and sixteen
years later she is excited to be a part of this new endeavor in figure skating.
Although competitive in both freestyle and ice dance, Angela's real joy came
from her seven years with the Wisconsin Edge Synchronized Skating Teams, participating
at four National Championships. After her competitive years were over, Angela
was able to focus on her other love: song and dance. She has been seen on
the stage with many Milwaukee companies such as The Skylight Opera, Milwaukee
Musical Theater and Circlestage Children's Theater, as well as in New York
City with The Glamazons. Currently Angela enjoys coaching adult and young
skaters in basic skills through advanced beginner freestyle, and the competitive
Wisconsin Edge Youth Synchronized Skating Team.
Angie Larson
Angie has been skating for 20 years. After finishing her competitive career,
she spent a year skating professionally. She continues to skate and choreograph,
as well as teaching group and private lessons. Angie is currently working
on her Senior Moves in the Field and her Silver compulsory dances.
